Wake up on a beautiful Colorado morning, look across to the Continental Divide and take a peek at my e-mail........ This is insane, and nothing more than to induce extreme harm on these animals that most likely in numbers pose no issues........ but the will of the BLM to do whatever they care to do and to whom. They are out of control...........
Experts Urge BLM to Halt Massive Arizona Burro Roundup in High Desert Heat

Fitch, "Straight from the Horse's Heart"........As the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) prepares to launch a massive burro roundup next week in the lower Sonora Desert, where temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees, the American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign (AWHPC), a coalition of more than 50 organizations, is calling on the BLM to postpone the helicopter stampede and capture operation until Fall, when temperatures will be lower.

A broad-based group of Thoroughbred industry stakeholders announced Feb. 9 the establishment of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)—an organization designed to serve as both the accrediting body for aftercare facilities that care for Thoroughbreds following the conclusion of their racing careers and a fundraising body to support these approved facilities.
Funded initially by seed money from Breeders’ Cup, The Jockey Club, and Keeneland Association, the TAA is comprised of owners, trainers, breeders, racetracks, jockeys, aftercare professionals, and other industry groups.

A note from Jon Marvel of Western Watersheds: WWP Joins to Litigate the Pancake Complex Wild Horse Gather on the Ely District of the BLM in Nevada.
The case is being litigated by attorneys from the environmental law firm Meyer, Glitzenstein & Crystal of Washington D.C. Bill Eubanks and Kathy Meyer are the lead attorneys. WWP has joined this litigation because it is an opportunity to challenge the BLM failure to assess livestock grazing in comparison with wild horse impacts on public lands. The BLM ignored livestock impacts in making a decision to zero out wild horses in the Jake’s Wash area of about 160,000 acres within the larger Pancake Complex. The litigation will challenge both the site-specific horse gather decision and the underlying 2008 Ely RMP/EIS that WWP is also litigating as part of our 16 RMP litigation currently in front of Judge Winmill in Boise. The two lawsuits will assist in bringing legal pressure on the BLM in multiple ways.
